Never Judge

Chapter 1005 1005

"Are you sure this will work?" Seth asked Ian as they stayed in a secluded area of the function room.

"Have a little bit more faith in us, Seth." Ian said with a chuckle as he looked around, trying to assess if any of the people in the room had connections to the rajas.

Initially the plan had been for Ian to stay as far away from the event as possible, they didn\'t want to tip off William Trent or Jim Walker. But then, they realized that this event could be an attempt by the pair to resurrect the rajas, something Ian could never allow.

"Do you have any idea why I was invited here?" Seth asked as he glanced at Ian who was still checking the crowd for any dangers.

"Our guess is that William Trent and Jim Walker are trying to resurrect the Rajas." Ian explained as he noticed William Trent walking over to them. "Look as sinister as you can, William Trent is coming our way."

Ian was heavily disguised, he doubted that William Trent or Jim Walker would be able to recognize him.

"Mr. Dean!" William Trent happily greeted Seth as he offered his hand to shake.

Seth simply looked at the man\'s hand, but did not take it.

"Do I know you?" Seth asked William Trent in a cold tone, making the man involuntarily flinch.

Ian struggled to hold back a laugh as he watched from the side.

"No, no, but I was the one that invited you to this party Mr. Dean." William Trent told Seth.

"Then my men and I should be going." Seth got up and nodded at Ian and two companions of theirs.

Ian and the others soon followed his lead and stood up as well.

"Wait, no, Mr. Dean, you are our guest of honor tonight. You must stay, and I must speak to you!" William Trent said in a panicked voice as he desperately tried to get him to stay.

"Speak to me about what?" Seth asked as he glanced at William Trent.

"You see, Mr. Dean, our interests are actually aligned. I know for a fact that you want to be king of the underworld." William Trent said with a grin on his lips, thinking that he had managed to catch Seth\'s attention.

Seth looked at Ian and raised his eyebrow.

Ian simply responded with a shrug.

Seth had never wanted to take Ray\'s place, as a matter of fact, they didn\'t know who spread those rumors this time.

It could have been part of Cedric\'s plan, but he should have said something.

"I\'m listening." Seth said as he turned his attention back to William Trent.

William visibly calmed down when Seth signified that he was more than willing to listen to the man.

"This is not something we can discuss out here in public." William Trent informed Seth.

"I have a lot of other engagements, Mr. Trent. I will not wait on you." Seth threatened, to which William Trent quickly reacted.

"My associate and I will meet you after we have welcomed all of our guests. There is a room behind this function hall, a backstage of sorts. We will meet you there." William Trent said with a nod as he waited for Seth to agree.

Seth was silent for a while as he pretended to consider William Trent\'s offer.

"Carlo, do we have time?" Seth asked Ian by the name they had agreed to call him by.

Ian nodded, choosing not to speak.

"You better not be late." Seth warned as he sat back down.

"We won\'t." William Trent said as he nodded and left.

"I\'ll take a look around." Ian told Seth as he stood up and walked around the room, trying to put names to the faces he saw.

Many of them belonged to ailing businesses that Cedric or Ray had trampled. Ian could clearly see the pattern of people William Trent had invited.

"How are you guys holding up there?" Cedric asked Ian through their communication devices.

"He took the bait." Ian said in a low voice so that people wouldn\'t think that he had gone crazy and was speaking to himself.

"Anything else you noticed?" Cedric asked as Ian spotted Kai moving through the room, making sure that Jim Walker spotted her.

It seemed to be working as Jim Walker would suddenly snap his head at the direction Kai had been at before blinking and shaking his head.

"Think of this gathering as a collection of low level people you managed to anger." Ian chuckled as he spotted a few businessmen who\'s companies he had personally ended.

"So, not a threat?" Cedric asked Ian.

"Everything is a threat, if you underestimate it." Ian responded as he walked over to the bar and ordered a few drinks for himself, Seth, and their other companions.

"The father is visibly disturbed." Ian said as the bartender walked away to make the drinks he had ordered.

"Well, that happens when you see someone that should be dead." Cedric chuckled. He knew exactly what kind of mind game Kai was playing with Jim Walker. "Has he gone up to William Trent?"

"He is walking up to him now." Ian said as the bartender walked back to Ian and handed him his drinks.

Ian thanked the man, handed a tip and walked away with the drinks.

When Ian got back to their table, Seth was watching as Jim Walker began to panic as he spoke with William Trent. It was clear based on his body language that he was thoroughly distressed.

"He has seen Kai?" Seth asked, to which Ian simply nodded.

"We should make a move too." Seth said as he got up, made sure William Trent spotted him, and walked towards the direction of the room William had pointed out to him.

Ian walked right behind Seth, still keeping his head low. He spotted Kai make a few more appearances, to which Jim Walker reacted becoming more and more crazed.

In the end, William Trent had to drag Jim to the meeting room, before Kai exited the hotel as planned. Her part in this plan was almost over.

"Mr. Dean, I am glad you chose to stay -"

Before William Trent could say anything else, the door to the function room burst open and Cedric walked in with a gun in hand.

"Asshole, burn in hell." Cedric hissed as he pulled the trigger, killing William Trent where he stood.
